Gunther and Betty Fischer are the owners of Long View Farm, where they cultivate two acres of vegetables, fruits, and flowers, grown in keeping with organic practices, as part of their diversified family farm, established in 1944.

Their produce offerings range from asparagus to zinnias and include a wide variety of crops: several types of potatoes and onions, multiple garlic varieties, shallots, tomatoes, cucumbers, hot and sweet peppers, leafy greens, squashes, and even chestnuts in the fall. Each year, Gunther experiments with new vegetable varieties, incorporating unique Italian, Asian, and French selections into their garden. Betty complements their fresh produce with an assortment of homemade jellies and jams made primarily from fruit grown on their farm. She also bakes breads, and desserts using organic flours – some from Italian, German, and other European recipes.

As founding members of the Atchison Farmers’ Market, Gunther and Betty have been dedicated participants since its inception in 1998. You can find Long View Farm at the market every Saturday from 8a.m. to noon, some Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and at the Winter market.
