Atchison Farmers’ MarketFresh, Friendly, LocalMarket E-Newsletter, Saturday, June 28, 20148 a.m. to 12 noonKids’ Day at the Market It’s Kids’ Day at the Market! Beginning at 9 a.m., we will have baby animals to pet courtesy of Dan and Trina Earl, a Buttermilk the Cow (aka. Julie Bowen) looking for Ferdinand the Bull and reading stories, and each child will learn how to plant a sunflower seed and get to take the tiny pot home to care for it and watch it grow. The Humane Society will also be at the market with a couple of animals to adopt. The Atchison Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee and Sue Stringer of Kansas ByWays and Agritourism donated the sunflower seeds. Our vendors are having more and more of mid-summer vegetable varieties: squash, green beans, tomatoes, and more. We are hoping to have sweet corn available sometime next week. Watch the newsletter for more information. Don’t forget to register with our market manager, Lyn Hoffman, for the July 5th bundle give-away.
