Wednesday, September 6, will be the last day to sign up to race in "The Zucchini 500 Race" at the Market this Saturday.

Race will be held at the Farmers’ Market on September 9 2017, at 11:00 AM under 6
Street viaduct. Those wishing to participate must register by the end of the day on Wednesday, September 6. This can be done at the Market by filling out an entry form at the Market Manager’s tent or online at longviewfarm3@gmail.com. Online entries must include: Entrant’s name, age, telephone number. The Market will provide all materials for the event. Participants can select their zucchini at the Market at 9AM on race day. 4 wheels and axles will also be provided. The only “carving” of the zucchini is to be done using a vegetable peeler, provided. Various decorations can be applied to the “car” as the participant chooses. Decorations will be provided by the Market. Preparation of the “car” is allowed between 9 and 10:45 AM at the Market. At 10:45 all “cars” are to be brought to the starting line. Categories by weight of zucchini: Note** some zucchinis may need to be trimmed to meet weight requirement Less than 1 LB Less than 2 LB Less than 3 LB Over 3 LB if any Additional category: most unusual can be any size zucchini Judges will determine the winners of each race and the finalists will race for the final prizes as follows: First place in each category: $5 Most unusual entry: $4 Photographs will be taken of the winners and posted on our Facebook page with permission. All participants will receive a certificate of participation and can keep their car.
